I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. I'm only not giving it 5 stars because there were several instances where the writing was confusing and I had to go back in many places because I felt lost for moments.Other than that minor thing, THE JANUS AFFAIR was brilliant. It did start off slow, but so did PHOENIX RISING, when you look back at it. Then around half way through, the speed was suddenly at full and I couldn't put the book down.I absolutely love how they've worked in the women's movements and suffrage. I did my senior research in university this past Spring semester on steampunk novels and gender equality/neutrality, using PHOENIX RISING and Gail Carriger's SOULLESS.Oh, how I wish this novel had been released in time for my research. I couldn't help but analyze this novel as I read it, and it has some fantastic elements to it.The only problem is...as soon as I read the last sentence, I wanted the next book in my hands that moment!
